This document (always under construction) aims to bring together for the first time an annotated list of the butterflies of this unique southerly subtropical region, where many of the species/subspecies are endemic. For example, did you know that there is a Birdwing Butterfly Ornithoptera species that is endemic to this region, and is the world's southernmost representative of its genus?

A description of my first sighting and capture of this magnificent (though certainly not shown to be endangered) butterfly when I was 16 (ye gods!!) years old.

An annotated list includes a remarkable 85 species of butterflies which I have personally observed and documented in the vicinity of this rapidly-growing urban centre located on the northern shores of Laguna De Bay in central Luzon.
